Sunrisers Hyderabad prevailed over table-toppers Rajasthan Royals with top-class death bowling to catapult themselves in the top-four. The 200-v-200 game came down to RR needing 13 off the last over, and two off the last ball but Bhuvneshwar Kumar trapped Rovman Powell leg before to secure the two points for the home side.

SRH did well to consolidate the recovery they pulled off in the middle-overs after a slow start. RR on the other hand, stayed ahead of the game for the first two phases, only to falter at the end.

Trent Boult should have had yet another first over wicket but Riyan Parag at backward point didn't get his palms behind a wild slash from Head on the first ball. Yet, RR aced the PowerPlays once again with the ball as they tied down SRH to a slow start. Abhishek Sharma fell to Avesh Khan trying to change the flow of the start, pulling to Dhruv Jurel at deep square leg. Anmolpreet Singh then gave Sandeep Sharma a wicket off his first ball when he flicked one to Jaiswal at midwicket.
Middle Overs: Head, Nitish turn things around

RR laid the platform for their spinners to tighten the screws in the middle overs, but Head and Nitish poured cold water over such plans. SRH's turn around began with Head taking on Chahal, smashing two sixes and a four in the ninth over. Nitish then took charge, tonking a six each off Ashwin and Avesh, before laying into Chahal with two sixes and two fours - hitting on either side of the straight boundary and one over cover point. Avesh came back well to clean up Head - for a 44-ball 58 - but SRH ramped up their scoring rate considerably.
Death Overs: Nitish, Klaasen put on a sixy finish

Nitish completed a 30-ball fifty and then hit back-to-back sixes off Ashwin. Sanju Samson had to bowl Yuzvendra Chahal in the death overs, where he didn't match-up well against Heinrich Klaasen. The South African took full toll, smashing the leggie for two sixes in the 16-run 17th over. Nitish matched Klaasen shot for shot as he went after Avesh before the latter took runs off Boult. Sandeep, who'd gone just for 16 in his first three overs conceded 15 in the 20th, as Klaasen ended on an unbeaten 42 off 19. SRH's 20-year-old batter Nitish got an undefeated 42-ball 76 to drag the team past the 200-run mark.

PowerPlay: Two down, but soaring ahead

Bhuvneshwar Kumar had Jos Buttler caught at first slip on the second ball of the chase, before bowling a wicked inswinger to disturb Sanju Samson's stumps on the first ball he faced. RR were quickly back on their feet as Riyan Parag smashed two fours and a six off Bhuvneshwar. Both he and Jaiswal got a quick move-on as 9 boundaries were hit in the phase to keep RR up with the asking rate. Marco Jansen had a tough return to the side while Pat Cummins was welcomed with a 15-run over.
Middle Overs: Parag, Jaiswal keep RR ahead

Jaiswal and Parag continued to be free-scoring through the middle, and runs came fairly easily as they looked to keep up with the asking rate. Jansen's forgettable return stretched to all three phases as the RR batters took a liking for his left-arm pace. Cummins too was tonked around as the third-wicket pair pushed RR to 100 at the half-way stage. T Natarajan nailed his yorkers in the middle, but when Cummins went to Bhuvneshwar to further curtail the scoring, RR flew again as the pair took 14 off his third over. Jaiswal got his fifty off 30 balls and Parag got his off 31, as the duo looked set to make a tough chase rather straightforward. Even with the wicket of Jaiswal, the scoring seamlessly continued as Shimron Hetmyer got in on the act to leave RR to chase just 45 off the last five overs.
Death Overs: Wickets, and a three-over pull-back

The turnaround for SRH began with Cummins clipping Parag's wings with a full ball that the batter couldn't get under while trying to hit big. The over didn't just bring a wicket, but also added just three runs to RR's total to crank up the pressure a notch. Jansen's fourth became a release over as he failed to bowl his wide yorkers well and conceded 15. Hetmyer went out swinging, as he got a six and then fell in Natarajan's over in the 18th, leaving RR to chase 19 off 12. Cummins then bowled, perhaps the best over of the game as he combined slow bouncers into the wicket and well-directed yorkers to first take out Dhruv Jurel and then concede just 1 run in five balls. Rovman Powell smashed a six to sully it a little, but RR still needed 13 off the last from Bhuvneshwar. Rovman and Ashwin ran quick twos to take the game till the very last ball, but the West Indian captain - who was rattled after putting in a dive on the previous delivery, couldn't take his team over the line.
